A Robles Family Christmas!

The Robles Family Christmas party was held at the Jensen's home this year. The party was a ton of fun despite the turkey cooker malfunctioning and delaying our meal 1 1/2 hours.Opening presents is always fun for everyone. Robbie loves his colorful book!

Mom is talking to David and Jackie as she opens their extra special gift.
The kids were all over the place, including the staircase to watch the present opening fun!
Jacob and Natalie can hardly contain their excitement over the splendid wrapping paper!

Julie is in love and doesn't care what is going on!!!! Jordan is such a good sport. He played all of our goofy games and even helped clean up after little kids!
Dad received more presents than he knew what to do with. He had trouble keeping them all together.
Yes, Kami looks super cute at about 6 months pregnant.
These little darlings loved that there was chocolate and candy out on the tables for anyone to eat. They had their fair share and a little more when no one was looking!

Please notice that Mom and Dad are in this picture and that we are playing UNO. Try not to fall out of your chair in shock! They are even having fun playing a family game. Kami was awesome to teach mom the rules of UNO. Later during the day, Mom and Dad even played Apples to Apples. Although they didn't win, (AMY WON 10 TIMES!!!!!), Dad did a great job offending all of the women in the room in one turn and offended Jacob on another turn. It was a funny site to see!!!
Our next stop after dinner was the Mesa Temple. We listened to the musical performance by the Cooley Sisters. Heidi, Madi and Payten enjoyed it so much that they were dancing everywhere. They did pause for a moment to get their priceless picture taken. Mitchell and Grant tried not to notice all of the beautiful lights....but it was just too hard for them to avoid it! On Saturday afternoon, Uncle Major and Aunt Ann came over for lunch. Aunt Ann told lots of stories about the Sweeney family history and filled in some of the gaps I had in my family history information. It was a wonderful visit and quite a treat!
We can hardly wait for the next big Robles Family get-together!

Happy Birthday Amy!

Today Amy is the big 27! Super fun!

Bob did a great job tricking Amy into thinking she was going to a special park for a birthday celebration. He had her close her eyes the whole way to the "park." It was fun to see her surprise when she ended up at our house for dinner and a party! We love you Amy! Happy Birthday!

Christmas is Coming!

I know its not even Halloween yet, but Christmas just creeps up so quickly. Before you know it, you will be standing in long lines to purchase perfect gifts for family and friends.

Each year in our family we draw names of who we get to get gifts for. If you are like me, it would be so much fun to get something for everyone; however, it just is too cost prohibitive. So we wanted to make the name drawing a little more predictable so you don't keep getting the same family each year. Look below for this year's list.

The GIVER.........................Who you get to get a gift for...
The McKinley's ...........................Julie
The Jensen's ...............................the McKinley's
Michael & Amy ...........................the Jensen's
Joe & Kami ..................................Michael & Amy's family
Daniel & Jana ..............................Joe & Kami's family
The Shupe's ................................Daniel and Jana's family
The Padilla's ...............................the Shupes
Jacob & Natalie ..........................the Padillas
David ..........................................Jacob & Natalie
Julie ............................................David

Next year we will just move column two down one space. The person at the bottom of column two will then move to the top of column two. This way we each get a different family every nine years. Eventually, a year will come and you will have yourself to get gifts for. Since that wouldn't be much fun, we will move column two twice. But don't worry about that for now since that won't happen for nine years!!!

Mom and Dad are exempt from the family gift exchange list because everyone loves to get mom and dad gifts! Plus, they want to do a little something for all of their twenty-something grandchildren.

Happy shopping! I hope to see everyone at the big Christmas dinner at the Jensen's!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Grandma Sweeney's birthday is on July 19th. However, today we had a surprise party for her.

Doesn't she looked surprised with her lovely tiara, magic wand and sprinkled cupcake?

Grandma was on her way to visit a friend that lives near Sierra Vista. She wanted to stop in Casa Grande and have lunch with Lori. She also invited Amy and I to join her there for lunch. Our sensational meal was at the Wendy's at the Outlet Mall in Casa Grande, very glamorous!

Although Grandma is turning 77 this year, she is still in high fashion.
Today she was sporting her zebra bag. Amy just knew that Sarah would want to see this super cute purse and be jealous about it ;)
The party table at Wendy's! We even sang Happy Birthday to Grandma. The other diners in the restaurant clapped.

Time for presents! Grandma received three cute shirts from Mom.

She also received this rustic birdhouse to adorn her backyard from me (Haley). Maddi helped pick it out at HobbyLobby.
The best part of the party was chowing down on the sprinkled cupcakes. Robby loved to stick his fingers in the cupcake frosting but became frustrated that when he shook his hand, it wouldn't come off. Eventually, Amy stuck his hand in his mouth so he could taste the sweet frosting. After that, he had no problem shoving the cupcake in his face. Robby will be ready for his birthday cake this weekend!
We hope Grandma has a super special birthday month! We Love YOU!!!!

Eye Surgery

(This is not Dad, this is just some guy getting eye surgery!)

Today Dad went in for eye surgery. He is out of the hospital and recovering in a hotel. It's like surgery and a resort vacation all in one. I wonder if he gets to wear the patch over his eye again? I remember when we were kids, in the early 80's, dad had a cornea transplant. He wore a patch over his eye for months. It would have been much cooler if he would have drawn an eye on the patch or wrote something funny on it. Maybe he can do that this time.

Get well soon Dad!

Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day lands on June 21st this year. The Robles 10 kids got together and created something extra special for Dad to commemorate this special day. We created a book with thoughts about how we feel about Dad, funny things we remember about Dad, and pictures of us with him. The book turned out amazing.

Since the majority of us were in Kingman on Mother's Day weekend, we gave dad his special gift then so we could enjoy it too. We all sat around and listened to Dad read it.
Notice its all of the girls crowding around Dad to get a look at the book. Where are all of the boys??? j/k

By creating the book we all started to remember funny stories about Dad. Many of the stories were about tricks dad used to play on us kids. For example, Dad would pass a quarter from one of my ears (Haley's) to the other. Sometimes it would even come out my nose. It was amazing! So one day when I was 3 or 4 years old, I stuck a round sticker up my nose as far as I could get it to go and it never would come out of my ear! Mom had to take me to the doctor to get it out. Julie's story is 10 times better than mine! Dad played the same trick on Julie. However, when he put the quarter in her ear, he told her he left it in there. She left the room and spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the quarter out of her ear. Finally, in tears, she came back to Dad and begged him to take it out. He complied and took the quarter out. Amy had a ton of funny stories too. We really should put all the crazy and humorous stories together into a book. I bet there are hundreds of other funny stories that we could write down and wet our pants laughing about them.

Thanks Dad for all of the hysterical memories! Have a wonderful Father's Day! We Love You!

Teacher of the Year!!!

Congratulations Mom! She was named "Teacher of the Year" at La Sanita Elementary School. I wonder what took them so long to recognize her superior skills. She does amazing things with her first graders. Not only does she sing to them from her guitar, she also lets them read using a microphone, she does super cool science experiments about germs, she has unforgettable RIF programs and the list goes on and on. Congratulations again Mom, we are all proud of you. P.S. Make sure Dad takes you out to celebrate :)

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

For Mother's Day this year, the 10 of us made a special tribute book for mom. Seven of the ten kids were able to make it up to Kingman to give it to her.
Mom had no idea what was going on even after she opened the custom card. The card had a picture of 10 kids all labeled with each of our names. The card was signed by all 10 of us. When she was done with the card, she asked who the present was from. We reminded her that it was from the same 10 kids that signed the card. :)
She pealed off the gold wrapping paper and found the elegant red box with a picture of her and dad in the center.

She pulled the special book from the box and read the title page "A Tribute to Valerie Robles from her 10 Kids." This is when the tears started to fall.

Nervously and full of emotion, she browsed through the pages of the books reading the thoughtful words of gratitude written by each of her children. All of us just stood there and watched in silence. It was quite a moment! Thankfully, Sarah said she wanted to read the whole thing out loud. We all gathered around Sarah, including mom, and read it together. It was fun to see what pictures each of us included and what funny stories or memories were shared. We are a pretty lucky group of 10 kids to have such a remarkable mother.

Thanks mom! You are the BEST! All of our success is attributed to having such a wonderful mother.

David is Back!

David has officially made it back from Reno, Nevada. All is well! When he went to the cancer treatment center there three years ago, he recieved ozone treatment/therapy, which was pretty painful but it killed off the cancer. This time while we he was in Reno, his blood didn't show signs of the cancer but his immune system was low. So instead of staying there a month for cancer treatment, he only had to stay two weeks and have an IV therapy to boost up his immune system. We are so glad he is okay and is able to move forward and tackle life!!!! (I probably don't have all of the technical cancer stuff as accurate as it could be, but it's all I know. Call David for more details.)

Happy Mothers Day

This is my favorite Mother's Day video of all time. I guess it just reminds me of the special people in my life. Enjoy! It's worth watching every year!

Hey, not all of us could make it to Kingman for Easter. If you are available, lets crash Mom and Dad's house for Mother's Day. It could be fun! Check your calendars and see if you can make it to Kingman the weekend of May 9th and 10th. The weather should be fabulous and we could all remind mom why she loves us more now that we have all moved out (except for Amy!) j/k Just a thought, post a response to let me know what you think.
